FAULT FUTURE: Cherub, Live at Barfly
Last week FAULT visited the upper room of Barfly to check out Columbia’s recently signed duo, Cherub. Stateside, the band have gained much success with their mix of 80’s era funk and electro punk sound and we were anxious to see if their feel good music would translate over to the UK Market. With their upcoming release ‘Doses and Mimosas’ approaching 3,00,000 views on Youtube, we had high expectations.
Cherub gave a high-energy performance from the beginning of each track to the next. Anyone who has ever been to Barfly will attests to its small stage but they performed as if they were playing the main stage at any large music festival and revelled in the energetic responses from the crowd. ‘Heartbreaker’ was an obvious crowd pleaser, sending the crowd into a dancing frenzy, as seemingly every member of the audience knew all the words.
FAULT had a brief conversation with band member Jordan Kelley before the gig and he appeared happy to just be on the musical ride at this present time. While their music is heavily digitally produced, both members have an obvious soft spot for the live stage. Switching from Guitars to Launch Pad to Talk box, all the while maintaining their lead falsetto vocal proves that while they may appear laid-back, a lot of hard practice time has gone into perfecting their seamless stage performances.
Doses and Mimosas is set for release on June 16th. Check out the music video below:
