FAULT Future: Romans
A haunting mixture of The Black Keys vocals with layers of fuzz, analogue distortion and crackling synth, ‘The Die Is Cast’ is the debut track from Romans, and is the first instalment of a four part E.P.
Romans is one man’s multi-instrumental solo project ,although his identity, the title of the E.P. and any information about the other tracks is currently shrouded in mystery. It’s not just the music and secret identity that Romans has got right though: heading up the visuals for ‘The Die is Cast’ is talented photographer Charlotte Rutherford, who has previously worked for both Playboy and Vice. Rutherford directed the video for ‘The Die Is Cast’ using a ‘Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas’ vibe using cinematography (the technique of combining still and moving imagery). Romans has also enlisted the help of Studio Moross, who are the company behind both the logo and the cryptic website in roman numerals which relates to Romans’ four part E.P.
With all the hype currently being built up around Romans, we are more than intrigued as to what the next step will be, as well as what to expect from the rest of the E.P. Judging by the amount of work that has gone into the build-up of this debut, Romans has made it clear that he is going to be one to watch in 2013…
