FAULT: What is your creative background?
Iris: I went to fashion-design school. strangely run by nuns, so creativity was more a provocation. i have started with figurative drawing went on to painting and illustrating, lately painting over photographs – this is something i am currently working on. but the main inspiration remains emotion, sensitivity and the pleasure of learning everyday more and more how to use it properly.
.
FAULT: What made you take the career path of a photographer?
Iris: I really got into it when i lived in London. i discovered how much pleasure it gives the voyeur in me to photograph strangers. street photography is how it all started. photography really pleases me in a way nothing else did before. it´s not just for the captured moment, it is the story the picture tells. photography really is the instrument that makes my eye and my soul come together perfectly in a way that gives me highest satisfaction.

.
FAULT: Who/what inspires you most?
Iris: Mostly i am inspired by music. poetry and literature is also a very important topic. inspiration comes and goes when i dive in the deep dephts of fear and happiness. a second before i am on the surface again i reach this equilibrium: full of everything and nothing at the same time.
.
FAULT: How do you get the best out of your subject?
Iris: I think it is emotion in any form.
.
FAULT: Do you have a technique?
Iris: Never leaving anything unfinished or just the way it is. i always have to keep on working on it, looking at it again, giving it time to blossom. sometimes i am satisfied with the original, sometimes i rephotograph- put layers over it, crop it.  it is a process really. at the moment i am painting over printed photographs, which really opens something new.
.
FAULT: Biggest accomplishment to date?
Iris: Mainly it is understanding  more and more who i am and what i am doing.
.
FAULT: Who would you love to photograph?
Iris: Firstly i would have to say Carl Barat. because i think he is a realy interesting subject. he´s  fragile and strong at the same time. I really like to photograph people with this interesting approach of duality. I love to work with dancers, people with deep emotional background. simply people those eyes tell big stories.
.
FAULT: Who’s work do you most admire?
Iris: My grandest admiration goes to the work of austrian photographer bernd preiml. he makes fairytale and agony so much bonding that it is just breathtaking.
helnwein´s early series with his children really caught my glance. in my eyes he is a genius. photojournalist James nachtwey´s work is brilliant. and last but not least my favourite picture of all time a portrait shot by Steve McCurry called Afghan girl.
.
FAULT: Who’s fashion campaigns do you most admire?
Iris: I´d have to say Fritter. amazing young designer Chris Auernigg from Barcelona. amazing campaign. rising star in fashions paradise. in the long run it surely is chanel for it´s never ending grace.
