All Choked Up

Adorning the feminine frame of a woman’s neck has long been a style behaviour, from small diamonds and pearls to loosely hung, elaborately detailed pendant chains. In recent times we saw the peter-pan collar make a return; the collars were actually available to buy as an accessory of their own. But for this season we’re seeing something much heavier, braver and indomitable, an item of jewellery that really makes a statement: the choker. Seen on the runway of McQueen, YSL and Valentino (to list a few) this neck adornment has been finished with studs, jewels and even feathers, on bare skin and over jumpers. So take it as you wish, and wear it how you like, but remember, this season is all about the neckline.
