Lady Gaga, New Video “Yoü and I”
Lady Gaga released her video for “Yoü and I” two days early, with a disclaimer on her Twitter: “Beware of strange oddities…The more he tries to fix me, the more magical I become.” “Yoü and I,” her most recent single off of Born This Way, stays true to Gaga’s rock and roll roots and her David Bowie, Mötley Crüe, and Queen influences. Gaga has made the videos for this album in a more artistic and abstract way than ever before, beginning with the Nick Knight-directed “Born This Way” and most recently her Versace-clad “The Edge of Glory” video. The “Yoü and I” video resembles a twisted, surrealist dream, despite being shot in Nebraska and musically directed by the legendary Mutt Lange. As rumors of Gaga’s collaborations with and tributes to Cher, Tony Bennett, and David Bowie circulate, her reign in pop music is certain to continue. The official TV release will be on MTV on August 18th at 7.49 p.m. EST, with an interview to follow by MTV News’ Sway.
