Every Brit loves a bit of Burberry
Every Brit loves a bit of Burberry, and model du jour, Cara Delevingne as the current poster girl, it is reaching a wider audience with its more casual sporty and actually affordable “Brit” range.
You can choose from the traditional, yet slightly twisted basics for men and women- chinos, tee shirts and leather- all ready to wear but that little bit edgier. Of course, you can still get the mac, but it wouldn’t be a Burberry store without it.
The first Burberry Brit store was launched on King Street in London’s Covent Garden in May with a jam packed evening of celebs, stylists, editors and the music crowd who came along to witness a showstopping performance in the state of the art store, by indie band Life in Film. Following this lead of showcasing bands, Burberry Acoustic is an initiative, which is set to develop and support emerging British bands.
The store lends itself well to events as the second musical event went down a storm to a packed after-hours party which took over the ground floor this week; This time, all eyes were on The Heartbreaks, who truly are set to break some hearts, as they performed live to a packed crowd on Tuesday. It also helps that lead singer Matthew Whitehouse is model good looking, and so happens to be the face of the AW11 ad campaign.
This collaboration with Dazed Digital is set to continue, with many more events set to take place throughout the summer and beyond; All artists are picked by Christopher Bailey, the Burberry Chief Creative Officer, and we can expect the cream of British heritage to be nurtured by the classic brand. Who needs Simon Cowell to predict the stars of the future? I know who I would rather be watching!
