MILOU
Interview by Alexandra S. Jupillat
A Dutch beauty has been catching all the light. From Amsterdam to Paris, London, Milan and New York City, at the opening of Balenciaga’s 2011 spring summer fashion show in Paris and on Vogue Nippon (April 2011), everybody seems to want a piece of her.
Aged 23, Milou Van Groesen is a strong and cool-headed young woman. “That’s my Dutch side; we tend to be very down-to-earth”.
With Milou, New Cool is not just a fashion style, it’s a lifestyle.
How do you like your job as a supermodel? “Modelling takes a lot of hard work but you do get to have some fun and meet a lot of people. That’s what I love.”
Milou cares about people. She knows how to appreciate every moment she spends with her friends and getting to know new people. When asked if she was home-sick she tells us: “There is no place like home but I’m happy as long as I enjoy my encounters and relationships. I never miss the places that much but I do miss the people I leave behind (…). I feel great living in New York City because I love my girlfriend and my friends.”
What’s good to know about working in the fashion business in the big apple? “Just be yourself and keep in mind where you come from and what for.”
If you want good looks, elegance and maturity, look no further.
