Arguably the strongest collection since Margiela’s departure in 2009, Maison Martin Margiela’s latest offering has created quite the frenzy amongst fashion-followers. Although not totally abandoning the overtly avant-garde aesthetics which have always been intrinsic to the house, there was an uncharacteristically pragmatic feel to the collection, with each ensemble managing to exude luxury whilst maintaining a certain level of wearability, a difficult thing for any designer to achieve. The house’s love of deconstruction and portion play featured heavily in the fall collection with impeccably-cut coats peeling away like paint from a wall exposing rumpled silk dresses & draped gowns, both a surprising & conceptually striking image. Whether it was the sensational deconstruction, outstanding accessories, the sublime colour palette or the surprisingly wearable & multifunctional dresses, Maison Martin Margiela’s truly found its way again.

Online schooling provides an excellent resource for those investigating a career in design but who can’t find the time for a traditional classroom degree program.
