FAULT: What are your thoughts on the new Disney Harry Potter theme park?
.
Rupert: It’s unbelievable; I’m really excited about it. I can’t really get my head around it. I think the weirdest thing is that we’re actuallygoing to appear in one of the 3D rides, I think
it’s going to be similar to the Spiderman ride at Islands of Adventure. I’ve heard that even in the queue there are going to be holograms of us, it’s pretty crazy really. When myself, Daniel and Emma auditioned we had no idea how big it was going to be, we thought we were only making two movies, let alone all the merchandise, fans and now a theme park, it’s weird but at the same time very cool.
.
FAULT: What would you be doing if you hadn’t become an actor?
.
Rupert: It’s a scary thought and I try not to think about it. I think I would have taken a path of some sort of artist; I’ve always been into drawing and illustration. I’m into surrealism and I also like a lot of Bansky’s work. I’ve actually just bought a Banksy Tesco family soup can, which is really cool; I seen a few pieces on Ebay actually, he painted a rat on one of those portaloo doors at one of the festivals and someone put it up for sale. Even though we have all had fame at such an early age, I think it was very important for all of us to stay the same and not get too wrapped up in the craziness of Harry Potter. Obviously certain things in my life have changed but I still stay in touch with all my old mates, they have all grown up with it as well so it’s not a big deal any more and we never really talk about it.
FAULT: Is it definitely an original Banksy?
.
Rupert: Well, there was no proof but I nearly bid for it!
.
FAULT: What has been your personal favourite line from one of your movies?
.
Rupert: There was one line I said, but they never actually used it. It was a weird line from the 5th Harry Potter and someone was trying to start a fight with Harry and I was standing up for him and said “Do you want a fistful of Weasley?”
.
FAULT: Who is your all time favourite actor?
.
Rupert: It’s a bit of an obvious one, but I think Johnny Depp is a great actor.
.

.
.
FAULT: What was it about Cherrybomb that persuaded you to take the part?
.
Rupert: It all happened really quickly actually. I think it was all about timing and it just seemed to fit perfectly into this gap. We don’t usually have much time to fit anything in
between the Harry Potters’ because we film for pretty much a whole year. But I think I was attracted to a more complicated character. It wasn’t really a conscious decision to do something so different, as it was nothing like Ron, but it turned out to be a really great experience for me as an actor.
.
FAULT: How hard was it to perfect a Northern Irish accent?
.
Rupert: It was quite hard because I’d never really heard the accent before. It was all really new to me; it was like a mix between lots of accents. But we all had a voice coach who made us a CD which I put onto my ipod, which was a big help, but it was cool, I really enjoyed it.
.
FAULT: What were your first thoughts when you saw the movie for the first time?
.
Rupert: I suppose it is more grown up, however none of it is too shocking or hardcore. I suppose compared to Harry Potter some people might find it a bit strange to see me in a film like Cherrybomb. I thought it was really cool and I was very proud of it, I love the graphics and I also think it has a great soundtrack. I was a bit nervous about my look, because it was set in the 50’s and I had a strange hair-do. It’s quite strange when you watch yourself on screen, it’s a weird feeling, and it doesn’t feel like you. You just kind of de-thatch yourself from it.
.
FAULT: Do you have a secret talent?
.
Rupert: I can unicycle…what else…? No that’s about it! (laughs).
.
FAULT: What does a typical day for Rupert Grint involve?
.
Rupert: When I’m not filming? I do a lot of painting and illustrating, I also watch a lot of TV. I’ve also just taken up hover crafting, which is a lot of fun.
.
FAULT: What is your all time favourite film?
.
Rupert: It a bit of an unusual one, but I love Eraserhead, it’s a really cool movie, directed by David Lynch.
FAULT: What is your FAULT?
.
Rupert: I lose things all the time; I have only just got my wallet back. I also laugh at inappropriate things, mainly if it’s a really serious situation, I can’t help it, and I just have no control.
