FAULT: What inspired you to become a fashion designer?
Alexandra Groover: My parents. My father was a painter and my mother is a jeweler, but I first got into making my own clothes when I found a box of clothing that my mother had made for herself in the 60s. I then demanded that she teach me how to sew with her avocado green Sears sewing machine.

FAULT: How would you describe your work?
Alexandra Groover: Scupltural, sophisticated, timeless.

FAULT: What are you working on at the moment?
Alexandra Groover: An order for NG Space in Christchurch, New Zealand, my new collection for AW11, organizing the wardrobe for a live performance event (The Cats Meet Show) at the Barbican, and my new film for AW11.

FAULT: What inspires you?
Alexandra Groover: Life, natural sciences, music, sounds, solitude, other creative people.

FAULT: What was your favourite designer as a child?
Alexandra Groover:Yamamoto.

FAULT: What are you listening to?
Alexandra Groover:Pan Sonic’s new album Gravitoni and Ryoji Ikeda and Dumb Type’s album Memorandum.

FAULT:Who you think is overrated ?
Alexandra Groover: Nobody. I believe in freedom of expression, as long as it isn’t intentionally harming others. Without it, the world would be boring.

FAULT: Who would you like to be in the other world and why?
Alexandra Groover: An architect or biologist.
