Joy Division festival celebrating Ian Curtis

From the 29th July – 9th August the enduring appeal and mystique of Joy
Division singer Ian Curtis, who committed suicide 30 years ago – will be
celebrated in the Unknown Pleasures festival in Macclesfield (named
after the group’s first album); funded by the local authorities, it’s
the first time his achievement has been recognised by his hometown.
Stephen Morris, ex Joy Division drummer and music writer Jon Savage have
curated the first in-depth exhibition of the band’s memorabilia –
there’ll be leaflets, posters, set lists, unseen-till-now photography,
and letters from Ian Curtis.
