Stefflon Don Back With Another Banger: ‘Ding-A-Ling’

Stefflon Don Releases New Track ‘Ding-A-Ling’

Words: Miles Holder

Just when singing ‘Hurtin’ Me’ over and over again was starting to wane on the old vocal cords, Stefflon Don returns with another banger this time featuring grime legend Skepta. New track entitled ‘Ding-A-Ling’ samples a uncredited vocal which fans of The Simpsons are sure to recognise from their elementary school take on the Chuck Berry classic of the same name.

Of course, don’t take only our word for it, Stefflon’s success can also be measured by the level of artists who are also clambering to work with the london rapper. Artists including Krept & Konan, Lil’ Yachty, Giggs and previous FAULT Cover star Charli XCX have all collaborated with Stefflon and now with the addition of Skepta to the aforementioned list, it looks like the sky is the limit!

Listen to ‘Ding-A-Ling’ below and if, like us, you’ve fallen head over and heels in love and want to catch Stefflon live – dates below!

The Brit Awards 2017 – FAULTless Bits

This year’s Brit Awards were in no shortage of talent. From Skepta‘s unreal performance to The 1975 winning Best British Group and Katy Perry making a political statement with her performance, the upcoming year in music seems brighter than it ever has.

Wham! made a touching tribute to George Michael and Chris Martin performed a secret duet with the late musician, which resulted in the evening’s most memorable and emotional moment.

FAULT was there to witness it all and here’s some of our highlights from inside the music industry’s biggest event of the year.

FAULT Alumni Little Mix opened the show with a futuristic and groundbreaking performance, joined on stage by over 100 backup dancers.

Katy Perry made a stir with her controversial mock-up of Theresa May and Donald Trump while one of her backup houses accidentally – walked – off stage.

The Chainsmokers debuted a brand new single with Coldplay that no one knew about.

Chris Martin carried on to pay a touching tribute to George Michael after the former members of Wham! took the stage to pay their respects to the late musician.

Robbie Williams closed the evening with a round-up of his most successful tunes.

Not to say that his performance was FAULTless – but we nearly didn’t notice the glitch that forced him to cheer the crowd into singing along. We still loved it Robbie.

As awards season is slowly simmering down, we can’t wait to see what 2018 will bring. This year, the abundance of talent was exhuberating and it definitely set the bar higher for the year to come.

Primavera Sound Barcelona 2017: The best yet?

Last year we exclaimed that “the reputation of Barcelona’s Primavera Sound has grown so much over the last five years that it gets mentioned in the same breath as the UK’s Glastonbury as a festival heavyweight”, could 2017 be the year it surpasses it? Judging by the line-up; quite possibly!

Year after year, Primavera have paired contemporary and culturally relevant artists alongside living legends who paved the way for originality within the music industry and 2017 is looking to be no exception to that rule. Classic festival favourites Arcade Fire, Aphex Twin and Bon Iver tear the stage up at every appearance and we’re sure Primavera Sound 2017 will be no different. Solange, Frank Ocean and The XX arguably released three of the best albums of 2016 and on their merit alone will bring music lovers from across Europe and beyond to Barcelona next May.  That’s all before we even mention that Run The Jewel, Skepta, Flying Lotus and FAULT #23 Alumni Miguel will also be performing. Alongside these contemporaries, festival goers can also bask in the presence of legends Van Morrison and  Grace Jones who have made undeniable contributions to music throughout their respective careers.

Primavera 2017 has one of the most eclectic lineups of the 2017 festival season yet it doesn’t look thrown together; the artists set to perform compliment each other very well and you tell how much consideration went into selecting who could best fit the bill. Of course, it could be argued that Primavera has cast their net out too wide, however that does not strike us as a great negative, quite the opposite in fact. While very different artists, it makes perfect sense that Frank Ocean and Van Morrison could share a common fan base even if they don’t know it yet. The blues and RnB share an intertwined history and Primavera could bring this to the masses.

Far from the dingy basements of London, Hip Hop is getting a new home this July. Fresh Island’s Festival, running from the 15th- 17th of July on Zcre beach, is set to be the place for all things Hip Hop, RnB and Rap this summer. And the best bit- we’ll be there!

With awesome headliners like Action Bronson, Danny Brown, Pusha T and Joey Bada$$ it’s almost easy to forget the excitement of actually partying on a beach! Sun, Sea, Sand (well, pebbles) and most importantly SKEPTA. Growing up in North London, SKEPTA is probably most famous among lesser Grime fans for his 2014 Anthem “That’s Not Me”. He is most definitely one of the most hotly anticipated artists playing the festival, and we’ll be sure to be up front.

Other goals for the weekend include a selfie with “Tim Westwood”, seeing Migos perform “Versace” whilst donning Versace (or similar knockoff) and attending as many boat parties as possible. Yes, that’s right Boat Parties. And word on the street is, it’s well worth peeling yourself from bed to make these (and the pool parties). We will definitely be taking our sore heads to catch Ladylicious on Thursday 16th.
