Year after year, Primavera have paired contemporary and culturally relevant artists alongside living legends who paved the way for originality within the music industry and 2017 is looking to be no exception to that rule. Classic festival favourites Arcade Fire, Aphex Twin and Bon Iver tear the stage up at every appearance and we’re sure Primavera Sound 2017 will be no different. Solange, Frank Ocean and The XX arguably released three of the best albums of 2016 and on their merit alone will bring music lovers from across Europe and beyond to Barcelona next May.  That’s all before we even mention that Run The Jewel, Skepta, Flying Lotus and FAULT #23 Alumni Miguel will also be performing. Alongside these contemporaries, festival goers can also bask in the presence of legends Van Morrison and  Grace Jones who have made undeniable contributions to music throughout their respective careers.

FAULT Weekly Playlist: POOLCLVB

Sydney producer POOLCLVB’s music feels like the summer disco romance you’ve been waiting for. He recently released his highly anticipated “You + Me” EP – a collection of four tracks brimming with cosmic synths and disco infused bounce.

“You + Me EP is in essence a story of boy meets girl, the relationship that follows and an expression of emotion that can sometimes be unspoken,” POOLCLVB says about the release. “I’ve created two characters here, somewhat based on real events and people in my life. This EP gives a voice to those to express how they truly feel, whether it be positive or negative.”

We asked POOLCLVB to put together some of his current favorite songs, including tracks from Bonobo’s latest album and much more.

Winston Surfshirt – Be About You

“These guys are one of the most exciting acts about blow the roof off 2017. Dude can sing, rap and write.. triple threat action, mic drop.”

FAULT Weekly Playlist: Anabel Englund

anabel

We first got tipped off on LA-based singer/songwriter Anabel Englund from her vocal features on Hot Natured’s (Lee Foss, Jamie Jones, Luca C & Ali Love) 2013 album “Different Sides of the Sun” and after taking some time off to focus on writing and her own artistic creation, Anabel re-emerges with her solo project and debut single “London Headache.”

The futuristic yet classic production on the record allows Anabel to bring both lyrical and vocal talents to the forefront, proving that her level of storytelling is second-to-none within the world of house music. “London Headache” is a stunning piece of alternative pop/house, with elements of disco running throughout, which coupled with her deeply personal lyrics makes for a unique and fascinating listen.

We asked Anabel to put together an exclusive playlist and with it she takes us through her private listening experience as she boards an international flight back to LA.

Misty – Ella Fitzgerald

“I chose this song for my alarm. It doesn’t matter what time I’m waking up if I’m waking up to her voice.”

Kilo – Walls To Build (Mall Grab Remix)

“Regretting booking my flight so fucking early, wiping the sleep from my eyes gathering my last minute things before I hop in the Uber waiting downstairs.”

Max Cooper – Woven Ancestry (Lusine Remix)

“In the Uber on the way to LAX, really excited the trip to my favorite place has begun.”

RÜFÜS – Untie The Sun Needs To Rise

“Walking through security, saying hi to all the airport security peeps appreciating all they do to keep us safe.”

Blaze – Lovelee Dae (Bicep Remix)

“Boarding the plane, grateful I got myself a first class ticket…orange juice and soda water when I sit down. Virgin mimosa #TREATYOSELF”

Tennis – Make It Good (Larry Heard Vocal Remix)

“Writing my thoughts in my journal thinking about all the things I’m gonna do when I land and the days to come.”

The Acid – RA (Weval Remix)

“Going through customs…ALMOST….FUCKING…THERE…….”

Madonna – Don’t Tell Me

“I’M HERE BITCHESSS. CAN’T WAIT TO TEAR THIS CITY UP WITH LOVE AND LIGHT. Don’t tell me to stop.”

FAULT Magazine Weekly Playlist: Sneaky Sound System

SSS 2013 picA white

Sneaky Sound System aka Black Angus and Miss Connie aka two people we wish we were real life friends with. To say that we’re fans of Sneaky would be an understatement. You may remember the Aussie duo’s 2011 dance anthem meets love letter single “Big” or “Really Want To See You Again,” both songs off their album “From Here To Anywhere.” They’ve both been staples on our playlist for quite some time. Known for their extroverted, room filling sound and Connie’s boisterously wonderful vocals, Sneaky continues to make music for the dance inclined masses, closing out 2015 with “All I Need,” a track that sees the duo moving more into the chilled out house space.

We asked Angus and Connie to put together some of their all-time favorite tunes and you might recognize some of these iconic classics, such as New Order’s “Bizarre Love Triangle.” The duo’s 80s influence comes through on their selections and we’re not mad about that at all.

Howard Jones – Like To Get To Know You Well

Angus: I was obsessed with this song when I was really young. I loved the chords, the marimba sound, the drum machine – i guess it was one of the first tracks that got me into electronic music – I even liked his jump suits.

Butch – Dope
Angus: I’m a house head through and through and I like everything Butch does, he sure knows how to pump out the party starters! This is basically a disco loop on repeat but it makes me want explode every time I play it, or hear it. This is definitely my summer jam!!

New Order – Bizarre Love Triangle
Angus: Have finished many a set with this old chestnut. I love that mix of melancholy, joy and hope and here its all bundled up in one of the 80s finest moments. Yes everyone knows it but it still inspires me.

Rufus feat Chaka Khan – Better Days
Angus: I could have chosen many Chaka Khan tunes, or disco for that matter. She just oozes and oozes and oozes!!! She has such a beautiful voice, wonderful phrasing and such dope songs. Love her.

Whitest Boy Alive – Gold Cage
Angus: I love simplicity and this is very simple yet so warm and satisfying. Erlend Oye is a master in my mind and never puts a foot wrong, and i really really like the way he plays guitar. This song has such beautiful lyrics to boot.

King Krule – Easy Easy
Connie: First heard this on a train. Magical. Reminds me of the cold…i mean real cold!! The simplicity and the tone/accent get me.

Vangelis – Blade Runner Soundtrack
Connie: Oh god this is my life! Everything that I am and ever hope to be encapsulated in one body of work. My emotions, my character, my faults and all my habits. Too good!

Spector – All The Sad Young Men
Connie: I love songs that evoke the sentiment of books and this I think F Scott Fitzgerald would be proud of .
